Power is one element that encompasses the fabric of the Kingdom of God and the essence of the Kingdom of Heaven; moreover, under microscopic inspection, we see the pulse and DNA of the supernatural. The saddened state of humanity has gradually become cold towards the miraculous to a state of apostasy, it’s in such that Apostle Paul said in 2 Timothy 3:5 that there is a group of people that will have a form of godliness but denying its power.
We need to be a generation that understands the power of God given to us and become light-bearers to a world that is in dire need of the manifestation of the power of God.
The Apostle further admonishes that we should grow in the wisdom of the Kingdom, in which its heartbeat is the ethos of power.
1 Corinthians 2:5 so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom but on God’s power.
Scripture specifically talks about the golden thread of the Kingdom of God clearly defining it as a Kingdom of power in 1 Corinthians 4:20 "For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power." Apostle Paul further says in 1 Corinthians 2:4 "My message and my preaching was not with persuasive words of wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power" this power is a kingdom lifestyle, the supernatural is the tapestry of life in heaven.
The power of God is the currency of heaven and we see Jesus teaching the disciples for 40 days after his resurrection expounding on the kingdom and the power they will receive from on high, Acts 1:8 "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
Let’s have a look at the types of Power the Bible speaks of to broaden our understanding of the heartbeat of heaven.
5 kinds of power
1. Ischui – (meaning Physical strength)
We see this reference to the power used in Luke 10:27 He answered, "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'
2. Energeia – (Meaning – energy)
Reference to this form of power is found in Ephesians 3:7 "Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power"
3. Exousía – (Meaning – Authority)
This form of power we see it used in Luke 10:19 "Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and overall the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
4. Dunamis – (Meaning – Miracle working Power)
We see reference being made to this type of power in Acts 1:8 "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
5. Kratos – (Meaning – Dominion)
This type of power is found in Ephesians 6:10 "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power."
Jesus came as an embodiment of the Kingdom of God and he displayed miracles signs and wonders effortlessly he defied the laws of nature, he defied science, he caused biology to question itself and he said greater than these shall you do.
John 4:12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these because I am going to the Father.
The early church functioned in the dunamis power of God in Acts 4:33 “And with great strength and ability and power (“dunamis”) the apostles delivered their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace - loving-kindness and favor and goodwill - rested richly upon them all” Apostle Paul’s life was marked by power Acts 19:11 “God did extraordinary miracles (“dunamis”) through Paul so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them”
With the clarity that we have been given on this power, what is left is for us to manifest this power in our environments, in our homes, and families. The power is indeed resident within us and it needs to be stirred up and expressed.
